Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Progressive Democrat Issue 126: NEW JERSEY FOCUS: Clean Elections

Democrats 2000 has been proud to support the New Jersey Clean and Fair Elections Project. Under this program, candidates in selected districts will have the opportunity to receive public financing for their campaigns freeing them from the endless hours of calling potential campaign contributors and allowing them to talk to those individuals who’re really important, the voters.

Earlier this year the 14th Legislative District, parts of Middlesex and Mercer Counties, was selected to participate in the 2007 pilot program. In order to qualify for partial funding of their campaigns, candidates Seema Singh, Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo must now collect 400 $10 contributions from voters in the District. They must collect 800 such contributions in order to qualify for full funding.

Democrats 2000 encourages all of its members who live in the 14th District (Cranbury, Hamilton, Monroe, Plainsboro, South Brunswick and West Windsor) to contribute today. For those members living in municipalities outside of the 14th District, we encourage you to get in touch with any of your friends, family or colleagues that do and ask them to participate in this important program.

To make a $10 ‘qualifying contribution’ please complete this form and include it with your check. Contributions can be sent directly to Democrats 2000 at P.O. Box 31, Jamesburg, NJ 08831.
