Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    Progressive Democrat Newsletter Issue 288

    HAPPY DARWIN DAY

    HAPPY LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY

February 12th is Darwin Day, the day we celebrate the birth day of one of the most important scientists ever. It is also Lincoln's birthday. As usual I include essays I have written addressing both of their legacies.

Darwin and Lincoln were born on the exact same day. And I think they are two of the most influential and, honestly, kick ass people of the 19th century. We should proudly celebrate their birthday!

A story from someone on Daily Kos about a swastika drawn on her door led me to emphasize the SPLC's resources for confronting intolerance in this issue.

And I have tweaked a lot of the local pages. Don't forget many of the local pages have Darwin Day events, so please join me in celebrating Darwin Day this year!

For those who want to help ensure our children learn REAL science and not creationism, may I recommend to you the National Center for Science Education. I have been donating to them for 10 years now to support their excellent work.
