Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    FAYETTE COUNTY NAACP:
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was
formed in 1909 by a group of white and black citizens appalled at the injustices that
some Americans suffered solely because of their race. Mary White Ovington led the
organization with zeal and enthusiasm through many obstacles.

The organization has grown steadily since then. Today, it is the largest and most influential civil rights organization in the country. The basic strengths of the NAACP are derived from its historic victories in the courts, its belief in the cause and legislative actions at all levels.

To keep pace with changing times, the NAACP has launched a number of dynamic
social programs. These programs are aimed at speeding the march toward victory over
    racism, hatred, bigotry and poverty.
