Founded on January 20, 1982, recognizing Broward's growing role as a haven for Spanish-speaking immigrants and refugees, a group of dedicated individuals came together to establish a non-profit organization that would put out the welcome mat for newcomers from other lands. With a keen understanding of the needs of these new residents, Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc., began to offer English classes, job placement, emergency assistance, information and referral, and a wide range of other services designed to ease this transition in the most effective manner.
Today, Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc. has grown to become the largest non-profit organization in Broward County that is dedicated to serving the Hispanic population. Its services have broadened to include such critically important areas as job placement, health education, HIV/AIDS education, prevention and outreach, free tax preparation, summer camps, children's literacy, and senior activity center.

NJDC mobilizes the Jewish community and convenes opinion leadership to support the Democratic promise for all Americans. NJDC believes that through our work in Democratic Party politics, we can ensure a better world for our children and grandchildren.
