Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

172 Chances for Progressives to Win in November

Progressive Majority is one of the most successful progressive organizations around. They train and help progressive candidates win elections on state and local levels all over the country. In essence, they are nurturing the next generation of politicians and making sure there is a great batch of young progressives who will be a strong force in the next generation of politics. This forward thinking strategy has been very successful. This year Progressive Majority endorsed candidates have been winning their primaries and looks like at least 172 of them are going forward into November's general elections. This is from an email from Progressive Majority:

I’m excited to report that progressives are winning Primary elections across the country – this time, they’ve won key August primaries in Michigan, Colorado and Minnesota.

Progressive Majority is supporting 172 candidates for the November elections. This is a huge slate of candidates – we need your support to help them win in November.

Meet a few of the progressive champions who just won their Primary elections:

Rena Moran, if elected in November, will be the only woman of color in the Minnesota House of Representatives. A social worker who specializes in child protection, Rena will bring an important voice to the State Legislature.

Crisanta Duran is a 30-year-old attorney and Labor leader who has already proven that she can improve the well-being of working families - now she's poised to bring that fight to the Colorado General Assembly.

Harvey Santana, an urban planner and military veteran, is prepared to put his experience to work improving the economic conditions in his Detroit district.

Thank you to so many of you who donated and volunteered to help these progressive champions. But the work is not done—most of our 172 candidates face tough, ultra-conservative opponents in November and need our help.

Now, more than ever, we need your help to win in the November General elections. Your donations help us give our candidates invaluable support throughout their campaigns.

Donate today so progressives can win again in November...

I highly recommend helping out these candidates by volunteering if you live in or near their districts or by donating and spreading the word about them. Many of them are running in races that will have low voter turnout and your help can make a HUGE difference.
