Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States

I am a research biologist in NYC. Married with two kids living in Brooklyn.

    Southern California Grassroots Alliance

    SoCal Grassroots is an excellent coalition from what I can tell:

    SoCal Grassroots is an independent volunteer organization committed to helping to move our society towards true equality, justice, and democratic ideals. We are dedicated to advancing an agenda rooted in hope and the real grassroots values of opportunity, integrity, community action and giving volunteers ways to get involved. Our actions include supporting grassroots volunteers who serve as mobile strike teams and phone callers who are going into Republican congressional districts to turn them blue.

    I admit being suspicious when the Green Party is involved, but truth is that unlike Nader himself, the Greens have been more strategic overall than they were in 2000. In fact I have worked with and endorsed Green candidates in my local area in Brooklyn.

    SoCal Grassroots brings together progressive and liberal activists from the Democratic and Green Parties as well as independents to elect progressive candidates and work on progressive causes.

    Among the causes they are working on are the following:

    * California Clean Money Campaign
    * CDP Progressive Caucus Position Paper On Iraq
    * Full Election Protection
    * Equality for All
    * Green Jobs Now

    Contact your local SoCal Grassroots representative to find out what you can do in your area to further progressive politics:

    Central Coast
    Tom Mullens

    Orange County
    Kevin Carver
    David Sonneborn

    South Bay
    Edna Murphy
    Tony Hale

    Stay active and stay organized and we can accelerate real change in America.
