Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    NJ-05 Congressional Race:

This seat is currently held by Scott Garrett, who is widely considered far too much of a right wing extremist for his New Jersey constituents. Garrett is one of the Katrina 11, the 11 Republicans who opposed aid to Katrina victims. Garrett opposed renewal of the Voting Rights Act and he supported oil drilling off New Jersey’s coast, both very unpopular stands in New Jersey. He is anti-union, anti-choice, anti-Katrina victims and about as right wing as you can get.

Dr. Dennis Shulman is the Democratic nominee to take on Garrett. Renowned author, educator, Rabbi, and clinical psychologist, Dr. Dennis Shulman has dedicated his life to serving all segments of the community. Dennis Shulman has been endorsed by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO and has been selected by the DCCC as a strong challenger. You can learn more about Shulman here.

    NJ-07 Congressional Race:

Recently Democracy for America endorsed Assemblywoman Linda Stender for Conrgess in the NJ-7 district. Stender is standing up against Big Oil and standing up for working Americans. You can learn more about Linda here. You can volunteer for Linda here.

Nice to see New Jersey being so politically vibrant! I work with http://www.kangalope.com, a public service events listing site that lists events in the tri-state -- New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, but mostly NJ. I'd like to invite you to post your event on the website for free -- we list festivals, fairs, concert tours and the like, and the growing Kangalope social network is notified of it. More power to you@
