Hanover Democratic Committee is committed to reaching out to the community, building a broad-based political committee, raising money to support our efforts to nominate and run candidates for federal, state, and local level. We realize that electing Democrats to local, state and national offices is the key to making this country the best it can be for all citizens. We understand that political committees are built from the ground up and we accept that challenge as the Hanover Democratic Committee. For more information contact your local district chair:

Check out this great video from our team here that pulls together some of the many moments of people power in Wisconsin, Ohio and other states where governors and state legislatures are trying to take away the right of public employees to bargain for good middle-class jobs. It gives a glimpse of the huge outpouring of nationwide support and solidarity for workers under siege by lawmakers who are bought and paid for by billionaire CEOs like the Koch brothers.
As Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley says in the clip:
When you try to make unions the problem rather than the politically difficult decisions that we have to make as a people, then you’re not being very forthright and honest with the citizenry you’re representing.
From a recent meeting of the Hanover County Democrats:
Don’t Cut Education & Police, Armstrong Warns
Hanover Democrats met at the Ashcreek Recreation center on February 5 for our annual pancake breakfast.
Amidst an often humorous speech and good natured jabs, Del. Ward Armstrong, minority leader of the House of Delegates in the Virginia General Assembly, struck a somber note at the Hanover Democrats' annual pancake breakfast on February 5.
"Fixing transportation is an important objective, but we shouldn't take money away from our schools and police officers to pay for pavement. To continue to create jobs, remain competitive in the global economy and invest our Commonwealth's future, we must provide the funding necessary to keep our public education system among the best in the nation," Armstrong told those attending the Pancake Breakfast and silent auction sponsored by the Hanover Democratic Committee.
Del. Armstrong warned that House Republicans are taking funds from education and public safety to fund transportation. "House Republicans want to cut $65 million from public education, taking away even more money from schools already struggling with massive budget cuts from previous years." He cautioned that the proposed House budget also takes $150 million from the general fund which pays for schools and police...all to support transportation.
