Arizona Focus: The results of right wing Extremism
The right wing intolerance and hatred in America today has its consequences. And sometimes those consequences are murder. A leader of Arizona's anti-immigration hate movement has just been sentenced to death for murder. Her intolerance and hatred didn't stop at rhetoric. It led to killings. And now she may pay the ultimate price.
From BBC News:
THIS is the result of Teabagger/Republican hatred and intolerance. THIS is the result of Fox News hate speech. It leads to murder.
Many of my fellow progressives oppose the death penalty. I have problems with it, but do not categorically oppose it. My problem is how it is applied unfairly and the actual innocence or guilt of the convicted person doesn't seem to matter too much to the system. But there are times where it seems appropriate to me, which is something that makes me a tad more conservative than some of my readers.
THIS is a case where I have no problem with the death penalty. As long as the trial was fair and she has every appropriate chance of appeal (i.e. proper due process) she deserves her fate. Now, who was it who said those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.
Teabaggers and Fox News take note: YOU are partly responsible for these murders with your hate speech and encouragement of right wing extremism.
From BBC News:
Shawna Forde, 43, organised a break-in at the Arizona home of Raul Flores apparently to fund her group, which campaigns against illegal immigration.
But the burglary went wrong and 29-year-old Mr Flores was shot dead along with his daughter Brisenia.
Forde was convicted of first-degree murder. Her alleged accomplices have yet to be tried...
During the trial, the jury was told the young girl had pleaded with her attackers to not fire on her, but was still shot in the head.
