Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

VIRGINIA FOCUS: Obama, Veterans for Peace, Impeachment, Groups and Events

    BLOGGING VIRGINIA:

The Virginia Progressive: Daily commentary on the state of progressive politics in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Democracy for Virginia: The state Democracy for America group spreading the grassroots throughout Virginia.

The Virginia Organizing Project is a statewide, multi-issue citizens' organization committed to challenging injustice by empowering people in local communities to address issues that affect the quality of their lives.

VIRGINIA ACT BLUE SITE: Help turn Virginia even more blue. Since 2005 Virginia has been trending blue, and we can continue that trend. Virginia is important in winning back the Senate, and I believe it might even be a swing state in the Presidential race. There are at least THREE key House races in Virginia this year. The DCCC is targeting VA-11, where the incumbent Repub is one of nearly 30 Republicans to retire, making it an open seat, VA-02, where the Repub incumbent won by LESS THAN 5%, and VA-10. Looking pretty good! And I am starting to read VERY promising things about VA-5. I believe all four of these are winnable and I predict we will win at least two of them...more if we push hard.

    How To Run Voter Registration

This is a training with three parts. 1. How to obey Virginia law in registering voters: 2. Running an effective registration event: 3. Training others to do the same. This training follows the "educate and empower" methodology that allowed one small group to register almost 10,000 voters in 2004. This year we will need to register 300,000 new voters so we need to create at least 30 similar groups to turn Virginia blue.
