Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

GEORGIA FOCUS: Obama, Veterans For Peace, NAACP, Groups and Events

With Bob Barr in the race for President as a Libertarian, Georgia is actually in play for Obama. Obama and McCain are currently neck and neck in the polls with Bob Barr getting 6%. As part of the Dean/Obama 50 state strategy, I urge a strong effort in Georgia this year. With that in mind I give you the Georgia for Obama Group. Join and participate! Register voters, give your time, make the effort.

In particular, here are some upcoming events: (more events here)

Voter Registration Blitz (Voter Registration Drive)

We are joining forces to create a Voter Registration Blitz at businesses and public places throughout the Atlanta area! We will be distributing voter registration forms, signs and instructions to local small businesses. After distribution, we will check in weekly to collect forms. This is a great way to get involved in your democracy at any time that’s convenient for you! Join the event and get started at any time! I will send you all the materials you need to get started and we can meet online or in person to discuss the ever-changing voter registration laws in Georgia. Then, on July 1, we'll meet downtown at the Obama Office on Peachtree and MLK to celebrate all the voters we will be registering together as well as further opportunities to volunteer!

The only requirements are: wear your Obama gear, bring any rally signs and USA flags you might have, and wear comfortable shoes. You do not have to be a Coweta County resident. This is a perfect opportunity of high visibility for our campaign AND to hand out voter registration cards. We will gather at the Park located at the side of McKoon's on Jackson Street, which is about 3 blocks north of Court Square (time TBA). The parade route is through the Court Square and down LaGrange Street to Newnan High School, but you are not committed to the entire route if you are physically unable to do so.
