NEGLECTING AMERICA: Republican Neglect and our Bridges
Last week I ranted about how the stated policy of the Republican Party to "drown the Federal Government in a bathtub" is directly responsible for the disasters in New Orleans, the Minnesota bridge, rising mercury levels in our fish and the Minnesota bridge disaster. The Republican policy can be called Neglecting America. Well, things may be worse than we think, at least in some states.
Daily Gotham had a depressing article, complete with map, showing county-by-county the parts of America where bridges are deficient, and so could collapse as suddenly as the bridge in Minnesota.
Here is the map (orange and red are counties that really have to worry)
I live in NY State...where every single county has structurally questionable bridges. It makes me wonder about the rest of our infrastructure as well. Maybe it's time for government to start working for the PEOPLE again, rather than for Halliburton and Exxon.
