Progressive Democrat Issue 93: NEW YORK STATE FOCUS
There is an article up on Daily Kos discussing how the organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) have given Bush lap dog, Social Security flip-flopper and scandal-ridden sleazebag Vito Fossella a mere "C+" rating for his stands on issues that affect US Troops, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and military families.
IAVA was founded in June 2004 and claims to be the nation's first and largest group dedicated to the Troops and Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the civilian supporters of those Troops and Veterans.
Given that Fossella is claiming his main strength is on defense, this mediocre rating is huge news, as covered in the Daily Kos article. In other words, Fossella is nothing more than a mediocrity even in the very area he considers his strength.
But there is more to this story even than can be found in the Daily Kos article. You see, Vito "Lap Dog" Fossella isn't the only NY State Republican who gets a mediocre rating from IAVA. Let's see how NY Reps do on issues affecting national defense and veteran issues:
Republicans:
Vito Fossella: C+
Sue Kelly: C+
John Sweeney: C+
John McHugh: C+
Sherwood Boehlert: C+
James Walsh: C+
Thomas Reynolds: C
Randy Kuhl: D (the worst rated of ALL NY Congressmen)
Democrats:
Chuck Schumer: B+
Hillary Clinton: A-
Tim Bishop: A-
Steve Israel: A-
Carolyn McCarthy: A
Gary Ackerman: B+
Gregory Meeks: B
Joe Crowley: A-
Jerrold Nadler: B
Anthony Weiner: B
Edolphus Towns: B (someone has to like him)
Major Owens: C (I disagree, but it's their rating system)
Nydia Velasquez: B-
Carolyn Maloney: A-
Charles Rangel: A-
Joe Serrano: B-
Eliot Engel: A-
Nita Lowey: A
Michael McNulty: A-
Maurice Hinchey: C+
Brian Higgins: A-
Louise Slaughter: B
Notice that Republicans pretty much suck on defense according to these veterans while Democrats do pretty well? I think this is just one more reason for Democrats to Sweep NY State. And, of course, write the media discussing the fact that Iraq and Afghanistan war vets favor NY State Democrats over NY State Republicans.
