Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Progressive Democrat Issue 75: NYC FOCUS: Endorsement votes

Democracy for NYC's endorsement votes are happening now and New Democratic Majority Endorsements are pending.

DFNYC is holding endorsement votes for three Brooklyn races and one Manhattan race. These endorsements are important because endorsed candidates get local and national attention and get help petitioning to get on the ballot. If you have attended three DFNYC events you can vote in these endorsements. Brooklly races are Congressional 11th District, 20th State Senate district and 57th Assembly District. The Manhattan race is the 30th State Senate district. This is YOUR chance to help progressive candidates win Democratic Primaries.

New Democratic Majority will hold its endorsement votes soon. To vote in NDM endorsements you must be a dues paying member. Dues are $25 per year. I am not sure which races will be up for endorsement votes in NDM this year, but be ready to vote by paying your dues.

I hope I can honestly reassure all of you that DFNYC and NDM will NOT change their eligibility requirements for endorsement votes the way some local Democratic clubs do. DFNYC and NDM can be trusted to be above board.
