Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Progressive Democrat Issue 71: INTERNATIONAL FOCUS

I will include every week an update on KIVA’s loan needs. Currently, there are about 5 loans to businesses in the Kajiado District of Kenya that need filling. Remember, these are loans, so you will get the money back eventually. And you can start by loaning as little as $25. I keep getting updates on the loans I have made and I am amazed at how much a small loan can matter to these small businesses.

But remember. East Africa has been suffering from a terrible drought that has led to famine. The drought has finally broken, but there is still a deficit of food. If you possibly can, donate to Oxfam’s East Africa famine relief. The situation is pretty critical.
