Democracy for NYC is hosting a special training headed by Bo Lipari, computer expert and voting activist of New Yorkers for Verified Voting (www.nyvv.org). The session is designed to fill in the gaps on what you know about Paper Ballot/Optical Scan vs DRE voting systems. (PBOS is the system the New York Times, Howard Dean and the DNC have strongly endorsed.)
The goal of this training is to develop lobbying tactics, so we can take this issue to the NY City Council members and make sure all five boroughs opt for PBOS. New York City has the power to guarantee that about 38% of the voting machines are PBOS. And if NYC mandates PBOS, we may pick up added support in other parts of the state for this transparent, reliable, easy to use, and most cost effective system.

CRITCAL MASS BICYCLE MOVEMENT! Critical Mass is a bicyclist movement (NOT an organized group!) that holds weekly protests all over the world to protest pollution. DRINKING LIBERALLY: An informal, inclusive weekly Democratic drinking club. Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics.
