Progressive Democrat Issue 34: NATIONAL SECURITY

President Bush has pledged to fire anyone who helped leak undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame's name to the press. This is appropriate since revealing the identity of a CIA agent endangers that agent, endangers all contacts of that agent and endangers our national security. The outing of Plame endangered all of us because it seriously hurt the war on terrorism. Not only should the person who leaked her name be fired, he should be prosecuted for treason.

Now we know that the person responsible was Karl Rove. A top member of George Bush’s administration committed treason, endangering Americans, yet Bush is standing behind him.

MoveOn.org has a petition calling for Bush to fire Rove. start by signing this petition. But do more! Write your local papers and call for Rove to be fired and prosecuted for treason. Those of us who are really concerned about terrorism realize that this action by Karl Rove really shows how little the Bush administration cares about the safety of Americans. They are willing to sacrifice national security for their own petty political gain.
