AUGUST 17 2011: HELP US SET THE TOP POLICY (& PRACTICE) ISSUES FOR THE 2012 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Ever wonder why all the environmental groups working for the sustainability in Tennessee dont get together and speak as one voice to push for the issues that matter for Tennessee? WE DO!
This is the fifth year for Sustainable Tennessee, which drafts and implements the Sustainable Tennessee Agenda to identify the most important Policy issues (i.e. legislation) and Practice issues (things you can do at home or in your community) to help our state have a lean, green and mean economy.
Last year about 200 individuals and 60 organizations signed onto the Agenda. When we presented the Agenda to the Legislature at Conservation Education Day in March about 800 people showed their support for our top issue: Green Jobs in Tennessee.
The meeting on 8/17 is where we draft the Agenda to determine the top priorities for the upcoming Legislative Session kicking off in January in Tennessee. This meeting is not just for organizations - though the more organizations that participate the stronger our voice - it is also for concerned citizens, businesses, trade groups, educators, students and even legislators.
