Old tires, a Richard Nixon mask, a refrigerator, and a broken flute case. What do these things have in common?

They are just a few of the odd things found in Rochester during the last 4 years of litter clean ups during the annual Help Make Rochester A Litter Bit Better! event. What will our volunteers find this year? So far, over 54 tons of litter has been collected by thousands of citizens since the program began in 2007.

This year’s event will be April 16-23rd and registration is open now. Volunteers are encouraged to collect litter anytime during that week.

Join us for our feature film - Oceans. This ecological drama/documentary was filmed throughout the globe. Part thriller, part meditation on the vanishing wonders of the sub-aquatic worlds, this film shows a variety of images of undersea creatures-those that men consider to be both friend and foe. Rated G.

Other Information:Ocean animal artifacts from Quarry Hill Nature Center will be on display as well as information about environmental issues from the Zumbro Valley Audobon Society.

Biodiesel Stations in Olmstead County area:
Biodiesel is less polluting and has a smaller carbon footprint than regular diesel, and is produced right here in the USA. Places like Minnesota with strong agriculture are particularly suited for biodiesel...and sure enough Olmsted county has quite a few biodiesel stations. Biodiesel can be used in almost any diesel engine. Up to B20 (a 20 percent blend) any diesel engine, whether car or 18 wheeler or whatever, can use it. Above B20 some older engines may have problems, but newer engines should be ok. Here are some local biodiesel stations:
