Republican Extremists Move to Kill Women

Republican extremists are trying to block funding for proven, life-saving women's health programs. Their actions WILL, without question, lead to an increase in women dying from neglect.

It didn't take long for the new House Republican leadership to attack Planned Parenthood.

Yesterday, we received a copy of Rep. Mike Pence's (R-IN) fundraising email to his supporters that is entirely focused on destroying Planned Parenthood. He's lying to them, telling them that tax dollars fund abortion services — but he's deadly serious about eliminating all federal funding for Planned Parenthood's life-saving work...

If Rep. Pence and his anti-choice cronies are successful, the consequences for women will be dire. Federal funding helps local Planned Parenthood health centers across the country provide 850,000 breast cancer exams and one million cervical cancer screenings each year. It helps provide affordable contraception to millions of young people. It means that millions of women have somewhere to turn for basic health care.

Quite simply, this funding saves lives. And Rep. Pence wants to end it as part of a vicious campaign to eliminate Planned Parenthood. We will fight this and every effort to undermine the health care of the millions of women, men and teens who rely on us. But we can't do it alone. Please, click here to help.

Like so many anti-choice politicians, Rep. Pence is trying to advance his career by playing politics with the health of millions of American women. Planned Parenthood doctors and nurses provide more than three million tests and treatments for STDs including HIV each year, but that doesn't matter to him. One in five women turns to a Planned Parenthood health center at some point in her life, but that doesn't matter to Rep. Pence. He's found a way to raise money from his anti-choice base, and the women, men and teens who rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for basic health care simply don't matter.

So, while Republicans are trying to destroy medicare, medicaid and healthcare reform, they are ALSO trying to destroy Planned Parenthood, whose clinics help ONE IN FIVE AMERICANS at some point in their lives.

The bottom line is, Republican policies kill Americans. I can think of no other way to put it. Republican extremists, KILL Americans. Sad but true.
