Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    Krystal Ball for Congress:
Take a moment to view Krystal's introduction video. An entrepreneur, software designer, and CPA Krystal will bring a fresh perspective on fiscal responsibility to Washington. Krystal is exactly the type of reformer the first district of Virginia needs in Washington.

Democrat Rick Waugh, Fighting for the Middle Class

"It's time to stop the all-out war Republicans have been waging against the middle class for the past decade," 7th Congressional District candidate Rick Waugh told supporters at a fundraiser held Saturday in Ashland. The event was sponsored by the Hanover County Democratic Committee. About 40 Democrats met and talked with Waugh over hamburgers and hotdogs.

Waugh's opponent, Eric Cantor, is refusing to support the extension of tax cuts for the middle class. Instead, Cantor is pushing to extend the tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and won't approve a proposal to extend the tax cuts to only the first $250,000 we earn. Cantor takes this stand at a time when poverty in the US is growing. One in seven Americans was living in poverty last year, according to the recent census, with children being the fastest growing segment of the impoverished and after several years when the middle class has been shrinking.

Hanover Democrats listening intently to Rick Waugh"We can't continue to borrow more money from China to give it to the richest 2% of Americans. That is money that will be added to the deficit, money our children will have to pay back."
