The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Petitioning in Iowa: Your help needed!

This comes from Iowa's excellent Congressman Dave Loebsack:

I will be turning in my nomination petitions next month for the 2010 election. Due to the record turn out in 2008, we have more signatures to collect than ever before. And I know, across this entire district, we're up to the challenge!

If you're interested in this volunteer opportunity, click here to download the petition for your county.

I am excited to be able to have you involved in this process. I wouldn't be able to do all I do without you.

    Petitions Available Here.

Thank you for your help. See you out there!

    Take care,
    signature
    Dave

And this comes from Roxanne Conlin's Senate campaign:

To get on the ballot as a candidate for the U.S. Senate, I have to present 4,145 signatures of Iowans who are eligible to vote. I've challenged our supporters to see how many we can get by March 1st to show Chuck Grassley and voters across the state our commitment to running a grassroots, people-powered campaign.

Please click here to print out and sign the Iowa Nomination Form -- to help us get on the ballot.

This is a bold challenge, but the only way we're going to beat Chuck Grassley and his big-money donors is to involve as many everyday Iowans as possible in this campaign. Together we can take the "Fight to Fix It" all the way to Washington, D.C.

Our journey begins right now with your signature.

If you want to join me and "Fight to Fix Washington", please click here to print out and sign the nomination form -- and get your friends and family to sign as well!

This is VERY important. Whether you print out the form and sign just your name, have an entire sheet signed, or a have a dozen sheets signed, I need you to mail your nomination forms in by March 1st.

    The address is:

    Roxanne for Iowa
    PO Box 876
    Des Moines, IA 50304

We only have a few weeks to get these signed and put together for submission. I know it's a lot of signatures, but I've seen how eager Iowans are to finally have a Senator who fights day in and day out for the interests of Iowans -- not the interests of PACs and federal lobbyists. And I know you can do this, because you have already been so helpful to our effort.

Please click here to get us on the ballot.

Thank you so much for taking ownership of this campaign. Together, we can fix Washington!

    In friendship,

    Roxanne Conlin

This is one of those things that is absolutely critical for getting our folks elected. I do it in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. My wife and I were petitioning when she was 8 months pregnant. It was tough on her, but she insisted because it is so important. Help out if you are in Dave's district.
