Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    Progressive Democrat Issue 244

    Obama's first year in office:

And Obama's State of the Union speech one year into office:

And here's a long video of Obama taking on the GOP face to face:

For my ILLINOIS READERS, please check out my Illinois page for info on the Feb 2nd Primary election. Don't forget to vote!!

And if I may give my real job a plug, my latest paper came out this week.

I also want to draw attention to a fellow Culture Kitchen blogger, Leo Igwe, whose attempts to further reason and oppose fundamentalism in Nigeria have gotten him beaten up by a mob and harassed by cops. Here are his two most recent articles regarding Nigeria:

Humanism and the Quest for Justice in Africa

MURDER CHARGE AND POLICE CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA

Just a reminder. Leo is the guy I discussed when his attempts to expose child abuse among Christian fanatics in Nigeria got him attacked by a mob:

Culture Kitchen Blogger, Leo Igwe: Attacked but Still Fighting ...

This week I am mostly repeating some of the more important articles from recent weeks. These are things I don't want people to lose sight of: 1. the reasons we need healthcare reform; 2.) the need to support those Democrats who are doing the right thing on healthcare, particularly if they are in conservative districts; and 3.) the need to keep focusing on the secretary of state position in key states if we don't want fraudulent elections like in Florida 2000, Georgia 2002, and possibly Ohio 2004. I think these three points need to be made repeatedly.

    Here is this week's newsletter:

    TABLE OF CONTENTS

Repeated from a few weeks ago: An Updated Look at Healthcare Statistics...I noticed an increase in number of people reading this page, so figure it is worth re-posting.

Also worth repeating this look at the Healthcare reform vote in the House: Healthcare Champions vs. Anti-Choice Democrats...it might be worth showing our support of the good guys again since THEY are the ones we need to keep in office.

Also keeping focused on this one: Secretary of State Project. Few people pay attention to secretary of state elections, and yet they are in some ways the most important for guaranteeing fair elections.
