Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    Austin/Travis County, TX Focus

    EVENTS:

This comes from the Travis County Democratic Party:

    Travis County Primary Candidates Forum
    When: January 9th, 2010 (10 am)
    Where: TBD

Info: As you know, the March primary will be here before we know it. We have lots of candidates and lots of decisions to make as individuals and clubs (including endorsements). As we have had in the past, I propose that we join together and host a mass candidate forum after the filing deadline in January.

You'll remember that we had a City Council forum this year with nine clubs co-hosting. We had a great turnout from candidates and clubs alike. This year, given the large number of contested seats (from Governor on down), this forum will be bigger than the last several. I'm imagining a larger venue and a longer day. For now, the date has been set and the locations are being sought.

The forum is schedule to take place on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. I'm sending this email to ask you to discuss with your clubs whether they would like to sign on as co-hosts. Being a co-host involves putting your name on the program and invitations, designating a club contact person/volunteer, submitting questions for candidates, and organizing your own endorsement election (if it will take place that same day). If your club would like to participate, please let me know no later than Friday, November 20. So far, the County Party is an official co-host, and I'm expecting at least a dozen clubs this year (hopefully more).

Thank you in advance for your participation, and thank you for all you do for our party and country.
