Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

    Progressive Democrat Issue 234

November 3rd is election day. PLEASE VOTE!!!! I highlight candidates in several states like Minnesota, Washington State, NYC, and Pennsylvania. I also highlight the elections in Texas, Virginia and New Jersey. Voter turn out will be low so PLEASE read up on these elections, make your choices and vote. I should note that many more places have elections than I have been able to cover, so even if I am not covering your local elections, please vote.

For other states I continue highlighting the same facts and figures on healthcare reform that I have for weeks. I want to keep these handy for everyone until we have a bill passed. Keep up the pressure!

Some promising news from Central America is that the Honduran crisis seems headed for a resolution that would restore the Democratically elected president to power. In general I have supported President Zelaya over the military junta that ousted him, but I also caution the left wing of Honduras that blaming the Jews is just SO 19th Century. And is utter BS.

This week saw the best economic news to date as it really seems like the recession is STARTING to end. Well, officially it DID end this week, but we all know from the Bush years that the official end to a recession doesn't necessarily mean it will seem over to the average American. The economy still has a long way to go. But it is a step in the right direction, as President Obama enjoyed pointing out:
