Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

NEW JERSEY FOCUS: New Jersey gets Bluer

The bad news is that New Jersey voters rejected a bill that would provide $450 million in bonds to fund life-saving stem cell research. But at the same time, two previously strongly Republican districts in New Jersey elected Democrats for State Senate. This is partly balanced by another strongly Republican district that HAD flipped Democrat, but flipped back Republican. The message seems to be that Republicans are losing their small stake in New Jersey, but Democrats have to do more to hold the gains they make.

To me this is representative of the National situation. Democrats need a more local, grassroots approach and for New Jersey I think New Jersey for Democracy fits the bill. Get involved with your local New Jersey for Democracy chapter to help make New Jersey BLUER and more responsive to the needs of everyday Americans.

You can also listen to Blue Jersey Radio every Saturday morning from 10:30a-11:00a - or download the podcast anytime to listen to the latest hot topics, gossip and opinion on New Jersey politics with host Jeff Gardner and Jay Lassiter. You can listen here online.
