Progressive Democrat Issue 122: MEDIA ACTIVISM
Right wing media really is nuts. I mean absolutely crazy. I have been covering Ann Coulter a lot lately since she is particularly vulnerable and we have been successfully targeting her advertisers. But I want to take a break from that particular advocate of terrorism and mention another one, radio host Hal Turner. This is a guy I had not previously heard about but a diary on Daily Kos brought him to my attention. Here are some excerpts:

So...that is advocacy of lynching and murder, plain and simple. Less blatantly terrorist but still disgusting is this excerpt:
Here is an article from The Nation on this nut case. And here And you know what is worse than his terrorism advocacy is the fact that he is a mainstream REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN who ran for Congress, but lost, and people like Sean Hannity have been close to him. You can read more here.
People are suggsting that we report this kind of advocacy of terrorism here. This is something some debate: does this guy have the right to say these things on air or not? There is a first amendment issue and there is also the fact that there are legal precedents for advocacy of violence to be considered actionalbe if it leads to acts of violence, so it might be good for complaints to be on record in case people DO listen to this guy. Let's not forget that some of the worst violence perpetrated, whether in Nazi Germany or in Rwanda or in the collapsing Yugoslavia, was inspired by radio programs where the announcer ADVOCATED the violence but kept his own hands clean. These terrorist advocates have often been among those held most responsible by international courts.
Hal Turner represents someone at the early stages of this process. One HOPES no one listens to him. But what if they do? What if someone starts shooting Hispanics, inspired by Turner? I think having a legal record of complaints can be important for holding him accountable for his hate speech.

Turner has been criticized by the Southern Poverty Law Center for saying, "I advocate using extreme violence against illegal aliens. Clean your guns. Have plenty of ammunition. Find out where the largest gathering of illegal aliens will be near you. Go to the area well in advance, scope out several places to position yourself and then do what has to be done."

I openly talked about how our federal government may need be be attacked and overthrown by force. . . . .
If the feds grant Amnesty to the 30 million illegal aliens already here and go through with the reported plan to allow those illegals to bring their wives, parents and children here too!
I spoke about America being literally on the verge of a Second Civil War and made clear the enemy we face is our own government. Talking hasn't worked. Voting hasn't worked. It may be time to pick up guns and go take care of business!
