Mole's Progressive Democrat

The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Progressive Democrat Issue 121: INDIANA FOCUS: Fighting Ann Coulter in Indiana

This is REALLY important, folks. Ann Coulter has not only been using anti-gay slurs and advocating terrorism, she has been specifically targeting Barack Obama, trying to link him to terrorism. Absurd, no doubt. But this still gets attention because she is PART OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA! If we don't fight her, her rhetoric helps define the national dialogue. So I continue this from last week with an addition.

As I highlighted above, Ann Coulter hate speech continues, and so she is once again the target of a progressive boycott. Above I discuss contacting advertisers on her website. Here I want to urge you to contact newspapers that carry her column wherein she advocates terrorism against Americans. Interestingly, one of the first newspapers to drop her column due to her disgusting rhetoric was, long ago, the conservative National Review. They dropped her column after she responded to the 9/11 attacks by stating that America should "invade their [terrorists'] countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." Since then her hate speech has only gotten worse. She has compared Islam with the KKK and routinely advocates violence against liberals and insults homosexuals. She has the right to say what she wants. And newspapers have the right to carry it. But, we have the right to fight back as well.

Targeting her audience in Indiana is particularly important given the recent shifts in voting patterns in Indiana. It is very important to counter this kind of hate speech in a state that is shifting from red to light blue.

Here is a list of Indiana papers with contact info. PLEASE write them and urge them to follow the example of the National Review and drop Ann Coulter's column.

BUT IT IS TIME TO EXPAND THE PRESSURE...and I need your help. To my readers in Indiana, PLEASE check out the above mentioned papers and find three major advertisers. Contact those advertisers and send their information to me. If you do this, I can compile a list of advertisers to focus on and publicize it. This way we can put financial pressure on the paper to STOP CARRYING COULTER'S HATE SPEECH AND TERRORISM ADVOCACY. Without your help, I can't do much here. WITH your help, we can make a very real impact. And I can really assure you that when we act together, we DO make an impact.
