    Progressive Democrat Issue 60: Thoughts

Corruption continues to be the issue of the moment. That and Alito. This week I will be focusing on both.

Corruption is the issue we need to nail home. That and fairness in voting are the two things Democrats should be pushing as our key issues. We need to be the "Fair and Easy Vote" and the anti-corruption party. THOSE are our winning issues and the Republicans are handing them to us on a plate.

Don't have much else to add. For once my thoughts section will be short!

Rep. Boehner throwing in his hat to be considered as a replacement for Rep. Delay in the wake of the Abramoff scandal is itself a scandal. I recall reading in a weekly news magazine many years ago (the 1980's or early nineties) that prior to a vote in the House of Representatives Rep. Boehner was seen on the floor of the House passing out checks to fellow House members. The article said that his conduct was so blatant that a fellow House member felt compelled to go over to him to tell him that it did'nt look good for him to be seen passing out checks on the floor of the House.

I can't be sure whether the article appeared in Newsweek, Time, or U.S. News and World Report, but it definitatly appeared in one of them. For the Republicans to have the arrogance, stupidity, or lack of institutional knowledge even to consider this human being for such a spot in the midst of the present corruption scandal is laughable and absurd.

I can't believe that no one has run this story. Please check out who and when this story ran. I don't know how to access old news stories, but if you can suggest how I could go about it, I will do so and send you proof of this story.

If you can find something to back this story up, please post it and I will publicize it further. Otherwise we have to consider this a rumor.

    Thank you for your comment!

I don't know how to find a copy of this article, but Boehner admitted to it during an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox this past Sunday when Chris Wallace stated that the checks he was passing out were from the Tobacco lobby (a fact I had forgotten). Boehner's response was something to the effect that he was sorry and that it was a mistake for him to have done it. I also called in to C-Span a few days ago (the Washington Journal show) when a reporter named Cohen was on and they were discussing corruption and lobbyists. I commened on the Boehner story and the reporter confirmed it.

I video-taped it, so I have the proof on tape.
