Progressive Democrat Issue 56: VIRGINIA FOCUS
UPDATE from Last Week: Deeds Files Petition for Recount
State Sen. Creigh Deeds filed a petition for a re-count in the race to be Virginia's next attorney general -- the closest statewide election in Virginia history. This recount is the last thing we all need to focus on for the 2005 election season and your help is needed now. Here is an update from Jen Tomasello:

*********Our main goal for the next 5 days is to recruit all of the
observers we need, and get them to attend the upcoming trainings if they are
able to. Note, that observers need not be registered to vote in the
locality they are going to observe in. If you have folks who are willing to
travel a bit, they can serve elseware. Also, the trainings are not
mandatory--if someone absolutely cannot make it, they can still serve, but
we would like to have as many people as possible come and learn the recount
process.
Anyone of you who either can volunteer or who recruits volunteers should
send me their information immediately. If you can also find out if they can
attend one of the upcoming trainings, it would be very helpful.
Here is the list of trainings:
Dec. 16 -- 7:30 PM Harrisonburg
Broadway High School, 269 Gobler Drive, 22815 Lecture Room, park in West
Lot,
Dec 17 - 9:30 AM Roanoke
Roanoke Public Library 706 S. Jefferson St., Roanoke, 24016
Dec 17 - 2:30 pm - Danville
Danville Regional Airport, 424 Airport Drive, Danville 24540 Eastern
Conference Room
Dec 18 - 2:30 PM - Lynchburg
Holiday Inn Select, 601 Main Street, Lynchburg, 24504
If any of these trainings should be cancelled, I will inform anyone who I
know is planning to attend, as well as you all.
