The Progressive Democrat Newsletter grew out of the frustration of the 2004 election. Originally intended for New York City progressives, its readership is now national. For anyone who wants to be alerted by email whenever this newsletter is updated (usually weekly), please send your email address and let me know what state you live in (so I can keep track of my readership).

Progressive Democrat Issue 53: NEW JERSEY ACTION AGAINST WAL-MART

New York City has had Wal-Mart on the run for a couple of years now. We blocked them in Queens. Then we blocked them in Brooklyn. Now we are well on the way to blocking them in Staten Island. You can read about our efforts in a Daily Gotham diary I wrote.

I am asking New Jersey to join in our fight against one of the worst examples of what can go wrong with capitalism this side of Halliburton.

Why keep Wal-Mart out in the first place? You can find the facts on Wal-Mart from Stop Wal-Mart.org.

And if after reading about their abuses you agree that we need to fight them, then the next step is to join in one of several screenings of a tell-all movie exposing Wal-Mart’s dark underbelly.
